Rawalpindi High Court Bar Lahore Bench and Wooqlaw.com signed a groundbreaking MOU on August 23, 2024, at the Lahore Bench premises, launching a landmark digital platform in collaboration with the UK-based Pakistani IT company. An MOU was also signed between the High Court Bar Association and Wooqlaw.com, with Malik Jawad Khalid and Abrar Ahmad, director & COO of Wooqlaw.com, alongside Asad Mahmood, signing the agreement. This strategic partnership aims to revolutionize legal services by harnessing technology, enhancing access to justice, and promoting innovation in the legal sector. The collaboration will enable the development of pioneering legal solutions, improving the efficiency and effectiveness of legal processes, and connecting lawyers with clients worldwide, enhancing legal services and professional avenues through the cutting-edge digital platform.
The platform was inaugurated by Malik Jawad Khalid, President of the High Court Bar. This platform will transform the traditional career journey of law students into a smarter and shorter one.
Chief Justice Aliya Neelum, who has envisioned an online judicial system, praised the initiative, saying, “This digital platform is a significant step towards modernizing our legal system and increasing access to justice.”
Key Features and Benefits:
- E-profiles for lawyers to showcase their expertise and connect with clients globally
- E-wakalatnama (online power of attorney) for secure and efficient documentation
- E-case files for easy access and management of legal documents
- Digital bar system for streamlined communication and collaboration
Following the agreement, over 8,000 lawyers affiliated with the Rawalpindi High Court Bar Association will benefit from facilities worth 42 million rupees free of charge for one year. After this period, a monthly fee of 750 rupees will be required. Additionally, scholarships and a 30% fee discount agreement were signed with Sardar Azeem Hashmi, CEO of Kahuta Law College, and Raja Bilal Irshad of Lords College International.
Senior lawyers, bar association representatives, and directors Asad Mahmood and Abrar Ahmad attended the launch ceremony. In a recent address at the High Court Bar, the President of the Bar, Malik Jawad Khalid, discussed the digitalization of the legal profession through the new platform wooqlaw.com.
We are proud to be the first in Pakistan to connect with the world through digitalization,” said Malik Jawad Khalid, President of the High Court Bar. “This pioneering platform will revolutionize the legal profession, enabling our lawyers to stay connected with clients globally, streamline petition preparation and filing, and facilitate remote case hearings and decisions. Ultimately, it will transform the traditional career journey of law students into a smarter and shorter one, marking a significant milestone in our mission to harness technology for legal excellence.”
The new legal platform will not only open new professional avenues for lawyers both domestically and internationally but will also increase their sources of income. This is particularly beneficial for young and female lawyers who, for various reasons, may not continue legal practice after graduation. They will be able to leverage this platform for professional and economic benefits from home.
Currently, major law firms, financial companies, and the business community around the world hire legal advisors and researchers online. Therefore, the digital system will introduce online power of attorney, ensuring that only accredited lawyers can practice, while unaccredited ones will be automatically disqualified.
The ceremony was attended by Secretary General Shabbir Ahmed Mirza, Vice President Arshad Mahmood Janjua, Additional Secretary Sameera Yousuf, Joint Secretary Asma Abbasi, and directors from wooqlaw.com Asad Mahmood and Abrar Ahmad.
